Hear Senator Tom Harkin in a webinar.  Register now for a Coalition on Human Needs webinar on Thursday, February 13, 3:00 p.m. Eastern time.

The minimum wage has only been raised 3 times in the last 30 years.  But Senator Harkin (D-IA) and Rep. George Miller (D-CA) are sponsoring the Fair Minimum Wage Act, which would increase the federal minimum wage in 3 steps to $10.10/hour.  The bill also raises the wages of tipped workers, from the current impossibly low minimum of $2.13/hour – workers depending on tips haven’t seen an increase since 1991.

A large coalition of groups is coming together to make 2014 a year of action to raise the minimum wage.  From Senator Harkin and National Employment Law Project Executive Director, Christine Owens, hear the facts about why minimum wage increases help workers, families, and the economy and why the time is right to raise the wage now.  Learn how you can join in actions from local events to social media campaigns.  You can ask questions of expert speakers and will get resource materials you’ll need.

This 60 minute webinar is co-sponsored by the Coalition on Human Needs and the National Employment Law Project.
